UHCSA was a certified organic garden for four years. We were certified by OEFFA (Ohio Ecological Food and Farm Association) after our first summer (2009) until March 15, 2013. See the PDF of our organic certificate.
In 2013 we saw the certification cost increase and the government cost share program for organic certification program end. Due to the cost involved we decided to discontinue our organic certification.
Our pledge to you: The Upland Hills CSA pledges to maintain the same practices that led to the 2009-2013 organic certification. We pledge to use no GMO seeds, no treated seeds, no persistent pesticides, and no synthetic fertilizers. Nonorganic seeds are used only when organic seeds are not available in vegetable varieties we have had success with in the past and wish to continue. We pledge to use only inputs that are approved by the NOP (National Organic Program) and/or are listed and approved by OMRI.
